It still has fur and a hoof on it. Is that right?

Yes, and it is the whole point of it. This is about as close to what a dog would find in the wild as anything we sell. The fur, the hoof and the bone each give a different texture to work at, which is a lot of the enrichment value.

What does the fur do?

It acts as roughage, sweeping through the digestive tract. Useful alongside a healthy gut, but not a replacement for your vet's worming treatment. Keep doing what your vet advises.

Is it safe?

It is air-dried, not cooked, which is the distinction that matters with bone. It is a substantial, tough chew though, so supervise every session and take it away if pieces start coming off. Not one for a dog who bolts things.

Is venison good for sensitive dogs?

It is one of the better novel proteins. Most dogs have never eaten venison, and ours is 100% venison with nothing added. A good option when the usual suspects are all off the list.

What age and size?

Size is the real question here, and it rules out more dogs than age does. This is a big chew, so it wants a medium or large dog. A small dog will not know where to start with it.

On age, a large-breed puppy can have one from around 12 weeks, supervised, since the fur and skin give them plenty to work at before they reach anything hard. For a medium dog we would wait until six months. Either way, sit with them for the first one and take it away if pieces start coming loose.
