Frequently Asked Questions

Everything we get asked most often, in one place. If your question isn't here, just ask us.

Our treats

What are your treats made from?

Single ingredients, and nothing else. Our treats and chews are air-dried meat, fish or vegetables with no fillers, additives, preservatives or artificial colours. Every product page lists exactly what's in it.

My dog has allergies. How do I know what's suitable?

Every product page lists full ingredients, and our Hypoallergenic collection gathers the single-protein, low-allergen options in one place. There's also a Chicken Free collection for dogs who can't tolerate poultry.

If you're unsure, email us before you order. This is the reason we started Wag & Whistle, so it's a question we're always glad to answer.

What age can my puppy start having treats?

It depends on the treat. Our 4 Weeks + collection holds the softest options, suitable once a puppy starts weaning. The 12 Weeks + collection adds chewier things for teething pups.

Always supervise your dog with any chew, whatever their age.

How should I store the treats?

Somewhere cool and dry, in a sealed container or resealable bag once opened. Because there are no preservatives, our treats are best kept out of direct sunlight and away from damp.

How many treats can I give my dog?

As a general guide, treats should make up no more than around 10% of your dog's daily food. Larger chews last a long time and one is usually plenty. If your dog has a health condition or is on a controlled diet, check with your vet.

Delivery

How much is delivery?

UK delivery is a flat £4.50, and free on orders over £30. Standard delivery usually takes 3 to 5 working days from dispatch. Full details are in our shipping policy.

How quickly do you dispatch orders?

We pack and send orders within 1 to 2 working days. You'll get an email confirming your order straight away, and a second one when it's on its way.

Orders placed at a weekend or on a bank holiday are picked up the next working day. At very busy times, Christmas especially, dispatch can take a little longer, and we'll say so on the site if that's the case.

Do you deliver locally?

Yes, and it's free. If you're within six miles of us in Alfreton you can choose local delivery at checkout, usually within 1 to 3 working days. We bring it ourselves, so there's no courier and no tracking. If you'd like a rough time, just ask.

Do you ship outside the UK?

Not at the moment. We deliver within the United Kingdom only, and we don't ship internationally.

If you're abroad and would like something, email us and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.

Can I buy from you in person?

Please do. We're at markets and shows across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and beyond most weekends, with two stalls out. Our event schedule has all the upcoming dates.

Orders and returns

Can I return something if my dog doesn't like it?

Yes, within 14 days of delivery. Anything unopened and in its original condition is refunded in full.

If a pack has been opened we can't resell it, but send it back anyway and we'll weigh what's left and refund you for the unused portion. We don't have to do that, we just think it's fair.

If something is faulty or we've sent the wrong thing, you have 30 days and we cover the return postage. Everything is set out in our returns and refunds policy.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Email us as soon as you can and we'll do our best. Since we dispatch within 1 to 2 working days there's a short window, but if it hasn't been packed yet we can usually make changes.

What is Join the Pack?

Join the Pack is our treat subscription. A box of natural treats picked around your dog, delivered every month with free UK delivery, and you can skip, change size or cancel whenever you like. There's more on the subscriptions page.

About us

Who are Wag & Whistle?

We're a small family business in Derbyshire. We started Wag & Whistle because our dog Rory couldn't tolerate anything on the shelves, so we went looking for better and ended up hand-picking every treat ourselves. You can read the whole story on our About us page.

Do you sell wholesale or to trade?

We do. Visit wagandwhistletrade.co.uk for trade accounts and wholesale pricing.
