Is goat good for dogs?

Our goats ears come in at 70.56% protein and 14.82% fat. Goat is also about as novel a meat as you will find in the UK, which is the main reason people come looking for it. The figures are on the product page so you can check them against anything else.

Is goat a novel protein?

Yes. Almost no UK dog food uses goat, so most dogs have never had it. That is exactly what makes it worth trying for a dog who reacts to the usual meats. What no treat can do is tell you what your dog reacts to, but a single ingredient chew does mean you know precisely what they have had.

Are goats ears low fat?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. At 14.82% fat they sit just above our 14% low fat line, so they are not in that range. Our hairy cow ears at 6.4% and our lamb ears at 7.8% are the lean ears.

Goats ears or goat ears?

Same thing. People search for both and we answer to either.

How do goats ears compare with our other ears?

On fat they sit in the middle: leaner than a pigs ear at 20% or a rabbit ear at 21.5%, richer than a lamb ear at 7.8% or a cow ear at 6.4%. On protein they are second only to lamb. All six ears are compared side by side on the lamb ears page.

Why is there only one goat product?

Goat is not easy to source well and the ear is the one worth having. We would rather stock one we are happy with than add a second for the sake of a fuller page.
