Camel dog chews: our camel wrap is 100% air-dried camel skin, a rawhide free long lasting chew, and a novel protein at 76% protein and 8% fat.
Is camel good for dogs?
It is lean, high in protein and about as novel as a meat gets in the UK. Our camel wrap is 76% protein and 8% fat, which is a genuinely good set of numbers for something that also lasts a long time. Most dogs have never met a camel, and that is precisely the point.
Is a camel wrap rawhide?
No. Rawhide is a by-product of the leather trade and it gets chemically treated. A camel wrap is camel skin, rolled and air-dried, with nothing done to it. It looks similar, which is why the question comes up constantly, and the difference is what happens to the skin rather than what it is.
Camel wrap or camel skin?
They are the same thing. Camel skin is the ingredient and a wrap, sometimes called a roll, is simply that skin rolled into a stick. Rolling is what makes it thick, which is what makes it last.
How long does a camel wrap last?
For most dogs it is a proper session rather than a quick snack, because rolled skin softens as they work at it instead of snapping. A determined chewer will get through one faster than a steady gnawer, and that is true of every skin chew rather than anything particular to camel.
Is camel suitable for a dog who reacts to beef or chicken?
It is a sensible thing to try, because it is a completely different protein rather than a variation on one. What no treat can do is tell you what your dog reacts to. What a single ingredient chew can do is make sure you know exactly what you gave them.
Why is there only one camel product?
Because the wrap is the one worth having. Camel is not easy to source well and we are not going to add a second thing for the sake of a fuller page. If you want more long chews in the same shape, the buffalo wrap is the nearest and it is a touch leaner at 7.5%.
