Most dogs have never met a camel, and after this, they will want to meet a lot more. Our Camel Wrap is 100% camel skin, rolled and air-dried into a tough chew of around 24cm.

Camel wrap or camel skin?

They are the same thing. Camel skin is the ingredient, and a wrap (sometimes called a roll) is simply camel skin rolled into a stick.

Is it rawhide?

No. Rawhide is a by-product of the leather trade. This is simply camel skin, air-dried, with nothing added.

Worth knowing

Are camel chews safe for dogs?

Yes, with the same supervision you would give any chew. There is no bone in it and nothing hard enough to crack a tooth, so it is one of the more forgiving options for a powerful chewer. The thing to watch is a dog who tears off a big piece and swallows it rather than working at it.

Is camel skin the same as rawhide?

No, and it is the right question to ask because they look similar. Rawhide is a by-product of the leather trade, usually chemically treated, and it swells in the stomach rather than breaking down. This is camel skin, air-dried, nothing added. It digests properly. We will not sell rawhide.

Camel wrap, camel skin or camel roll?

All the same thing. Camel skin is the ingredient, and a wrap or roll is that skin rolled into a stick. Different shops use different words for it, which makes it harder to compare than it needs to be.

Why camel?

Because almost no dog has ever eaten it. Sensitivities build up through repeated exposure, which is why beef and chicken cause so much trouble, and camel simply is not in anything. If you have worked through the usual proteins without luck, this is worth a try.

Is it lean?

Genuinely, yes. 76% protein and 8% fat, which puts it inside our low fat range. Unusual for a chew that lasts this well, since most of the long ones are considerably richer.

How does it compare to a buffalo wrap?

Very similar chew and very similar timings. Buffalo is 67% protein and 7.5% fat, camel is 76% and 8%. The real difference is novelty: plenty of dogs have had buffalo, almost none have had camel. If you are chasing a protein your dog has never met, camel is the one.

What age can a puppy start?

From 12 weeks, with you watching. There is nothing hard in it, so it is gentle on new teeth.
