Description

Dental HealthHigh ProteinLong LastingLow Fat

Buffalo skin, rolled into a wrap and air-dried. Our Buffalo Wrap looks a bit like rawhide, which is the first thing everyone asks about, and it is not. Rawhide comes out of the leather trade and gets chemically treated. This is just skin, dried, with nothing done to it you would need to look up.

Key features

  • Around 30g a wrap. As a natural product, sizes vary.
  • One ingredient. Buffalo skin. No additives, no preservatives, not rawhide.
  • Lean. 7.5% fat and 67% protein, which puts it in our low fat range.
  • A proper chew. Skin softens as they work at it rather than snapping, so most dogs settle in for a good long session.
  • No hard bits. Nothing in it that could crack a tooth, so it is a sensible pick for a strong chewer.
  • Barely smells. It is lean, and fat is what carries the smell.

Worth knowing

If your dog is more of a gulper than a chewer, just swap it out once it is small enough to swallow whole. Prefer it with the fur on? The Furry Buffalo Wrap is the same chew with extra roughage. For more chews that do the job rawhide used to, see our rawhide alternatives.

Suitable for puppies from 12 weeks, with supervision.

Please supervise your dog while they enjoy this treat, and make sure fresh water is always available. As a natural product, sizes may vary slightly.

Questions We Get Asked +

Is this just rawhide by another name?

No, and it is the question worth asking, because they look similar. Rawhide is a by-product of the leather trade, usually chemically treated, and it swells in the stomach rather than breaking down. This is buffalo skin, air-dried, nothing added. It digests properly. We will not sell rawhide.

Furry or plain, what is the difference?

Same chew, and the furry version simply has the fur left on. The fur adds roughage, which some people specifically want, particularly raw feeders. If it puts you off, this plain version is the one for you.

How long does it last?

A good long session. Skin softens as they work at it rather than shattering, so most dogs settle in with one. Take it away once it is small enough to swallow whole, which is the rule for every chew we sell.

Is it safe for a strong chewer?

It is one of the better options for one. There is no bone and nothing hard in it, so no risk of a cracked tooth. The thing to watch is a dog who tears off large pieces and swallows them rather than chewing.

Does it smell?

Very little. It is lean, and fat is what carries smell.

Feeding Instructions +
Give under supervision and always with fresh water nearby. Take the chew away once it has been worn down small enough to swallow, and let your dog rest between sessions rather than leaving it down all day. As a natural product, size, shape and colour vary from one to the next.
