Tripe is the treat dogs go wild for and owners keep in the shed. Our Beef Tripe Sticks are unbleached beef tripe (green tripe), dried into sticks, and dogs think the smell is the best part.

Worth knowing

Yes, it is fragrant, and dogs think that is the best bit. Keep the bag sealed and the smell stays put. If you would rather something with barely any smell, a paddywack is 84.3% protein and 7.5% fat. And if your dog does not get on with beef, try a rabbit or venison meat stick.

Is this the same as the raw green tripe I keep reading about?

No, and it is worth knowing the difference before you buy. Most tripe sold for dogs is raw or frozen mince, fed as part of a meal. Ours is a dried stick, fed as a treat or a chew. Same part of the animal, completely different job.

Is tripe good for dogs?

Yes. It is unbleached, single ingredient, high in protein and low in fat, with a complete amino acid profile and a good dose of selenium. It is also easy to digest, which makes it a sensible pick for a dog with a delicate stomach.

Can I give it every day?

You could, but count it towards the day's food rather than adding it on top. The usual guide is that treats stay under around a tenth of what your dog eats in a day. Introduce it gradually if they have not had tripe before.

Does it smell?

Yes, and there is no point pretending otherwise. Tripe is one of the more fragrant things we sell. Dogs adore it for exactly that reason. If you would rather something low-odour that does a similar job, a paddywack is the one to look at.

Who does it suit?

Fussy eaters, dogs on a diet, and dogs whose stomachs object to richer chews. It is one of the treats we reach for when nothing else has tempted them.
