About the pouch weight

Each pouch holds between 145g and 185g. We fill by eye and by slice rather than to an exact weight, because these are cut from whole sweet potatoes and no two are the same thickness or density. You may get a pouch at the heavier end, you may get one at the lighter end, and we would rather tell you that than print a number we cannot honestly guarantee.

Can dogs eat sweet potato?

Yes, cooked or dried, in sensible amounts. It is high in fibre, rich in beta carotene, and gentle on most stomachs, which is why you find it in so many dog foods. Raw is the exception and should be avoided, as it is hard, dense and difficult to digest.

What is in these, exactly?

Sweet potato and nothing else, dried slowly until they go chewy rather than hard. No oil, no salt, no sugar, nothing added at all.

Who do they suit?

Dogs who react to meat proteins, older dogs with tired teeth, puppies from around 12 weeks, and anyone who wants something to hand out on a walk that is not another piece of dried animal. They are one of the few genuinely vegetarian chews we do.

How much can I give?

Start smaller than you think. Sweet potato is high in fibre and too much too quickly gives you a very loose dog and a long evening. Treats should stay under around a tenth of what your dog eats in a day.

Are they safe for a diabetic dog?

Worth checking with your vet first. Sweet potato is fairly high in natural sugars and carbohydrates, so if your dog is diabetic or overweight, ask before making it a regular thing. For a healthy dog, in small amounts, it is not something to worry about.
